Don’t Look Back

At the start of each approaching new year, we take inventory of our lives. We decide who and what we want to detach from, habits we want to kick, and things we plan to do to become better. While that’s great; however, we should not wait until a new year. This should be our mindset each day.

Genesis 19 in The Bible tells the story of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. The Lord made plans to destroy the city due to its sin. Before the destruction, the Lord sent an angel to inform Lot, his wife, and their two daughters to leave.

This is an awesome time to insert this.

This is one of the many things I LOVE about God. Warnings come before destruction. When we make it a habit to commune with God daily, His actions will never take us by surprise.

As stated, Lot was told escape the city and to take his family to the mountains. They were also given SPECIFIC instructions to run for their lives and DO NOT LOOK BACK.

They do as they were told, ran for their lives. However, Lot’s wife PARTIALLY obeyed- partial obedience is STILL disobedience. Lot’s wife looked back and turned into a pillar of salt.

Yes, a pillar of salt.

That breaks my heart.

There are places God is calling us out of as well. God is about to destroy those places for multiple reasons. He is, too, telling us to RUN FOR OUR LIVES and DO NOT LOOK BACK. If we do look back, it can and will cost us everything. When God asks us to release things and people, to detach ourselves from situations, it’s not to restrict us, IT IS TO PROTECT US. He sees what we cannot see and knows what we do not know. God will never ask us to leave places and people who are beneficial to us, only those people and places that are detrimental to it.

This may sound cliche, but God knows what is best for us.

As I always say, when we walk in obedience to God and FULLY SURRENDER our lives to Him, He will never let anything we HAD be the best we will ever HAVE. For that reason, we do not have to be so in love with the things of the past that we refuse to let go and walk away. He has GREATER in store!

You’ve heard God and He has given you clarity on what you need to leave behind.

Now, the question is will you fully obey, partially obey, or disobey completely?

Run for your life and DO NOT LOOK BACK. Your best days are AHEAD!

Happy New Year! ❤️

Boyd, God has really gifted you with words! You are very anointed in exegeting the meaning of scriptures! Don’t ever stop! Thank you for allowing God to use you in a way that brings light to many. Tiff and I were just talking about letting the past go and not becoming distracted by what others seem to have versus what God will bless us with!
